Symposia

Chance Lacina is the President and the earliest founder of Symposia. He oversees the company's general operation and seeks to finance the app and discover customers.

Prior to founding Symposia, he was a professional Quake player with an Master's degree in philosophy. He began to conceive of Symposia in Summer 2021. As a former graduate student, he missed having weekly readings and seminars on obscure philosophical texts. It occurred to him that if modern matchmaking could match players together in video games with low player counts, we could use the similar technology to match users together on any topic. This was the initial spark that drove him to pursue the construction of Symposia. Without any technical skills himself, he set out to build a team.

Lulu Cao is the Vice President and one of the earliest founders of Symposia. She is responsible for the company's general operation as well as developing the app as a full-stack developer.

She was the first to join Chance for Symposia. They met in graduate school where she earned her Master's degree in philosophy. Since then, she's honed award-winning front-end web development skills. She is quickly learning back-end development and has been a crucial pillar in the construction of our business structure and strategy.

Rafik Bryant is the Chief Technology Officer and one of the earliest founders of Symposia. He is responsible for overseeing the development, test, and maintainence of the Symposia app.

He is a back-end web developer with 20 years of experience. Chance and Rafik met in eSports, competing against each other for nearly a decade in tournaments all over the world. He has put a heroic amount of effort into our current version while raising a family and working full time as a software engineer.

The final "member" of our team is everyone in our lives who support us to make this possible. This includes our spouses, friends, families, the Iowa entrepreneur community, and everyone who supports us online.
